Frequently Asked Questions

What is LoveMyHealth?

The LoveMyHealth Lifestyle Genetic Test is DNA-based test designed to empower individuals to improve their health and well-being by personalizing actionable nutrition, exercise and lifestyle recommendations tailored to their unique genetic makeup.

Customers are provided with a ‘roadmap for a healthier lifestyle’, by revealing propensity for certain nutritional deficiencies, intolerances/sensitivities, and the diets/fitness programs that may work best for optimal health and preventing disease. Recommendations are based on a panel of 84 genetic variants, and whether these are associated with normal or abnormal gene function.

What does the LoveMyHealth test cover?

The LoveMyHealth test covers the following categories:
● Food Sensitivities/Intolerances (e.g. alcohol; caffeine; gluten; lactose; sodium)
● Specific Nutrient Needs (e.g. vitamins A, B2, B9/Folic Acid, B12, C, D, E, etc; minerals – calcium, iron;
omega-3 fatty acids; choline; probiotics; antioxidants)
● Diet (e.g. impacts of fat – saturated, polyunsaturated, omega-3/6, etc; arachidonic acid; whole grains
vs. simple carbs; triglyceride lowering diet)
● Detoxification (e.g. removal of chemicals in smoked & charred meats; ability to remove toxins using
glutathione; histamine removal; sulfur removal)
● Hormonal health (e.g. testosterone; estrogen; thyroid health)
● Physical fitness (endurance vs. power exercise type; bone health; pain tolerance; recovery time)
● Obesity Risk (type 2 diabetes risk; appetite/satiety/eating habits)
● Brain Health (stress; mood; memory; addiction risk)

How does it work?

DNA is collected using a simple, non-invasive cheek swab and is sent to our lab where we
analyze approximately 84 genetic markers from about 65 genes which play well characterized roles in various biological processes. The results are summarized in an easy-to-read report.

Where do the recommendations come from?

All of the recommendations included in the LoveMyHealth report are based on peer-reviewed, published studies showing the impact of genetic variants on outcomes, and we strictly stay within Health Canada’s RDA guidelines (for Recommended Dietary Allowances).

How do I view my results?

Results are delivered via our Secure, HIPAA-compliant Portal. Customers are given a login and password and can explore their report as an interactive web-based experience, where they can click through the various categories and follow links to access additional information. Customers can also download a PDF version of their report for printing.

How does it work?

DNA collected using a simple, non-invasive cheek swab is sent to our lab where we analyze the genes encoding a set of enzymes whose roles in drug metabolism have been very well established. The resulting drug and dosing recommendations are summarized in an easy-to-read report that covers over 60 different drug compounds (found in hundreds of pharmaceutical products) across various therapeutic categories including anxiety, depression, pain, cardiovascular and many others.

Where do the recommendations come from?

All of the drug and dosing recommendations included in the MatchMyMeds report come from peer-reviewed guidelines published by the Clinical Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium (CPIC) or the Dutch Pharmacogenetics Working Group (DPWG), or as summarized in the Health Canada/FDA approved drug’s label.. What do I do with the report?

Share it with your healthcare provider, either by filling out the Clinician/Practitioner Information section on the order form or bring it with you on your next visit. The information outlined in the MatchMyMeds report can be used by your healthcare provider to optimize prescribing.
